Privacy Policy

The short version: we don't have user accounts, we don't sell anything directly, and we don't sell or share your personal information. We collect basic, aggregate analytics to understand what people read, and an email address only if you choose to subscribe to the newsletter. This page spells out the details.

Effective date: July 1, 2026

What we collect

Usage analytics (everyone)

We use Google Analytics 4 to see, in aggregate, which pages are read, roughly where visitors come from (country/region level), what device type is used, and how people move through the site. This helps us decide what to review next and which pages to improve. We do not use it to identify individual visitors.

Email address (only if you subscribe)

If you sign up for the newsletter, your email address is stored with Kit (formerly ConvertKit), the service that sends our emails. We use it for the newsletter and nothing else. Every email includes a one-click unsubscribe link, and unsubscribing removes you from the list.

Nothing else

There are no user accounts, no comments, no checkout, and no forms that ask for your name, address, or payment details. Purchases always happen on the retailer's own site, never on ours.

Cookies

Google Analytics sets cookies to distinguish returning visits and measure sessions. We don't set any cookies of our own, and nothing on the site requires cookies to work.

You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, use your browser's private/incognito mode, or install Google's own Analytics opt-out browser add-on. The site works exactly the same either way.

When you click a retailer link

Some links to retailers are affiliate links (see our affiliate disclosure). When you click one, the retailer — Amazon, for example — may set its own cookies on its own site to attribute the visit. That happens under the retailer's privacy policy, not ours. We never receive your name, address, or payment details from retailers — only anonymous, aggregate reports (for example, that some number of people bought a wedge).

The services we rely on

Google Analytics 4

Aggregate usage analytics. Google acts as our processor for this data.

Kit (ConvertKit)

Stores newsletter email addresses and sends the newsletter.

Render

Hosts the site. Like any web host, its servers see standard technical request data (such as IP addresses) in order to serve pages.

Retailer affiliate programs

Amazon Associates and other retailer programs attribute purchases via their own cookies on their own sites.

Your choices and rights

Newsletter: unsubscribe any time via the link in any email, or write to us and we'll remove you.

Analytics: block cookies or use the opt-out add-on above.

Access or deletion: email us and we'll tell you what we hold about you (usually: nothing, or one email address) and delete it on request. Depending on where you live (for example the EU/UK under GDPR or California under CCPA), these may also be your legal rights — we honor them for everyone regardless.

The fine print

The site is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.

If we change how the site handles data — for example, adding a new analytics tool or affiliate network — we'll update this page and its effective date. Material changes will be noted in the newsletter.

Questions?

Privacy questions, data requests, or anything else — email us and a human will answer.
